TPACK ; Blooms Taxonomy;Blogs,wikis & websites

TPACK Framework
Acronym TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge
A learning manager must have technical skills (use of technology), know content (subject matter) and know how to teach his content effectively (art of teaching).

Technology is intended to be used for specific purposes.

Blooms Taxonomy using online concept mapping tool
These are types of diagrams that show various relationships between concepts. They are used for organising, chunking, and linking information to be transferred to the long term memory. They have the zooming effect; you can change text colour and format; you can use left, right, up or down keys for panning; can connect lines ;easy to create; colourful printouts; and edit.

Blog, wikis and websites.

I used PMI to analyse the blogs, wikis and websites in a classroom environment.

Blog

Minus
Implications
  • Owned by students
  • You can develop certain technical skills
  • Promotes creativity
  • Can be used as student portfolios
  • Assignments and homework can be done  online

  • Blogs are chronological and can be hard to keep it current
  • Can be difficult and time consuming to set up
  • Sometimes there are no comments
  • Can be confusing  how to manage a blog, what to put on and how to put it
  • What you write is your personal belief
  • Concerns with copyright

Wikis
Wikis are an excellent way to presentation students’ work to all stakeholders. It is safe to work on wiki because all the people who are involved can see what you have added on the wiki. Wikispaces have a WYSIWYG editing program .Acronym means what you see is what you get

Plus
Minus
Implications
  • Multi-author page
  • It is not chronological making it easier to manage
  • It is fun to share views, ideas and experiences

  • Anyone can edit, modify, add and remove information
  •  Less confident students may not feel comfortable to put their opinions
  • Cannot accommodate multiple concurrent authors

Websites.

Websites are collection of web pages .It is easier and more to find information on a website than using text books.

  • Your design can be seen by everyone
  • Setting up and navigation can be very confusing
